Audius recently announced $AUDIO Rewards, a first-of-its-kind equitable exchange program for artists and fans on the platform, as well as the Remix Dashboard, a place for all ongoing remix contests and stem packs to live.

The red hot act today made the song’s stems available on Audius to any aspiring producer looking to remix the hit and make it their own. A remixer at heart, Anish will personally and excitedly be reviewing and considering submissions, saying “Blackpool Boulevard arose out of collaboration and a melting pot of ideas, instruments and influences. For me, Audius is the perfect platform to open the collaborative process up to the people who have been listening and love the record. Their community-first foundation will enable anyone to engage with the parts however they want to and become a part of the story.“

“Blackpool Boulevard” is just the latest in a string of high-profile acts making their work available, completely for free, to Audius’ more than 6.5 million users.

“The remix feature on Audius came from the community recognizing Audius as a great place to collaborate and the need for more tools to do so, especially with their favorite artists and emerging artists like Anish Kumar,” Audius’ Head of Partnerships Clayton Blaha said. “We’re honored that Anish and Barry Can’t Swim want to take advantage of this feature to give back to their rapidly growing following.”

The feature allows artists and fans to earn $AUDIO through challenges on the web’s largest decentralized streaming service

February 16, 2022 - Artists uploading their tracks to Audius are in for a fun surprise; same goes for the 6 million users listening to exclusive new music on the platform every month.

Today Audius is announcing $AUDIO Rewards, a gamified feature set that allows seamless distribution of the $AUDIO token to the platform's top artists, fans, and curators simply for using the platform. 

This is an unprecedented move in the decentralized web landscape, Audius CPO Forrest Browning said, where the user ceases to be a commodity of attention and starts actively benefiting from the platform’s growth and added features. 

In the new rewards system, fans and artists will be given $AUDIO cryptocurrency tokens for taking certain in-app actions, such as inviting their friends, downloading the mobile app, daily listening streaks, uploading their songs, and much more. In doing so, Audius is fostering an environment where artists can create what they love and receive both instant recognition and $AUDIO rewards, and where the fan knows they are supporting their favorite artists while earning $AUDIO, as well.

Challenges will continue to be modified and more ways to earn will be added as the program goes on. This will ensure that the $AUDIO is constantly distributed to actual Audius users engaging on the platform who will eventually use it to unlock all kinds of elevated experiences within the ecosystem.

Major artists Cheat Codes, Aluna, RAC, and Alina Baraz are already getting in on the rewards, and encouraging their fans to do the same. 

Kevin Ford of Platinum-selling DJ trio Cheat Codes expressed his excitement, saying, "We don’t work in tech, we’re not coders. What we are, though, is an independent band who loves our fans and we’re always looking for ways to interact with them and give them something they’re not getting elsewhere. That’s why we’re so excited about $AUDIO Rewards; Audius makes it so easy for fans of music to begin interacting with and benefitting from Web3. We’re hoping this new era really strengthens the relationship we have with our listeners and vice versa, we want to be able to say thanks in new ways."

Browning expects artists and fans to be excited about this feature not only for what is being presented today, but what it means for Audius moving forward.

“$AUDIO Rewards is not monetization, but it is one of the first big steps towards progressive monetization on Audius in 2022,” Browning said. Previously much of Audius was on the Ethereum blockchain, which was cost-prohibitive to passing out small amounts of tokens. However, recently Audius has been migrating much of its operations to the more cost-friendly Solana blockchain. “This migration to Solana is laying the groundwork to eventual micropayments and actual monetization in the future.”

Polyhyphenate musician Aluna loves how the evolving uses of the $AUDIO token are able to add new dimensions to roll-out plans, stating “​​Although I’m a singer and producer mainly, over the past couple of years I’ve DJ'd my way toward a diverse dance vision that’s now becoming a reality. Things are changing so rapidly - I wanted a platform where I can put my mixes up online while also keeping up with the movements of web3. Aspiring producers will have a chance to build upon greatness using the new Audius “Remix Contests Dashboard,” with the inaugural remix competition with Dillon Francis launching today on Audius. Francis is lending his expertise and track “Real Love ft. Aleyna Tilki” to the contest. 

The contest is the first to utilize the newest tool available to Audius’ 6 million+ users – the “Remix Contests Dashboard’ that displays all of the ongoing competitions in one place – allowing aspiring producers to survey and select the songs they’d like to reinterpret and re-release on the platform. For “Real Love,” contestants will have until January 27th to submit their reworked track. Winners will be selected by Dillon by February 10, with first place receiving $250 and signed merchandise, 2nd place receiving $150 and a Happy Machine merch pack, and 3rd place rounding out the podium with $100 and a Happy Machine merch pack. 

The stem pack is available for download here on the decentralized streaming service. 

“I’m stoked to let everyone remix ‘Real Love’ because Aleyna is an amazing vocalist AND this is how I came up in music – DJing and remixing my favorite records. The Audius community has that same feeling now, where everyone gets to be creative while supporting each other. I can't wait to hear some remixes!” Francis said of the contest.

Clayton Blaha, Audius’ Head of Partnerships, said past remix contests regularly field hundreds of entries from emerging producers. It is not uncommon in these contests, he said, for artist teams to even release a few of the remixes officially through the artists’ labels.

Previously, if artists wanted to drop stems to let their fans interpret their work they’d need to do so with a third party host like Dropbox, taking the collaborative creativity and the engagement that comes from it off platform with the hope that it somehow finds its way back to the original artist. With Audius, fans can tag the original track and have their version upvoted by fellow fans or even the artist themselves, stack-ranking the best takes and adding a competitive yet friendly dynamic to the process. Best of all, if the original artist likes or reposts a fan’s remix, that producer gets a “cosign” on their track – the ultimate recognition in the producer-DJ world.

The beginning of this contest also signals the official launch of the Audius “Remix Contests Dashboard.”

“This new feature came from the community recognizing Audius as a great place to collaborate and the need for more tools to do so, especially with their favorite artists,” Blaha said. “Remix contests continually stoke the excitement from the underground community that is growing so quickly on Audius. We see producers and fans sharing each other's work on socials and shouting out their favorites all the time. They now have a tool to optimize that further and we’re excited that it’s drawing in international superstars like Dillon.”

Voting is now open for the inaugural Audius Awards, an initiative created by the fully decentralized music streaming platform to allow its growing community to have their voices heard and to celebrate a banner year.

Audius ended 2020 with roughly 500,000 monthly listeners and has seen that number boom to nearly 7 million as 2021 comes to a close, with more than 200,000 artists contributing to the blockchain-based streaming platform.

And now Audius wants the community to decide who made the biggest splash this year, with voting commencing for categories including Best Artist, Best DJ Mix, Most Active Community Presence, and Top Label on Audius, among others.

“Like many communities in crypto, 2021 was pretty insane for Audius. The network saw tremendous growth in terms of users and it launched some amazing product features and partnerships. More and more artists are using the network to get their music out and to connect with fans directly; it’s inspiring to see folks who began their careers on Audius go on to play festivals and really build fanbases. I think the Audius Awards will help carry that energy into 2022,” said Clayton Blaha, Audius’ Head of Partnerships.

The Top 5 vote-getters in every category will receive a “Silver Audius Awards NFT” while every single community member who votes will receive a participation NFT.

Competition is sure to be fierce as Audius saw some big names, such as Dillon Francis, Subtronics, and Disclosure show up nearly every week on trending tracks, while other acts such as Zedd and Mike Shinoda came in hot upon their arrival to the platform.

Those interested in weighing in can vote at Audius.one/vote. Voting will remain open until 11:59 pm PST Friday, December 17.

In a move that leaves no question as to the blockchain winner in the music space, Audius, the blockchain-enabled music platform with more than 6 million monthly users, announced a new $5 million round of strategic funding today from several of the biggest names in the music industry.
 
The capital injection partners Audius with some of the biggest names in music on and off stage. Artists including The Chainsmokers, Katy Perry, Nas, Steve Aoki, Jason Derulo, and many more join industry heavyweights like Maverick Founder Guy Oseary’s Sound Ventures, John Josephson of SESAC, and Martin Bandier, former CEO of Sony Music, to anoint Audius as the favored music platform for artists and as the music industry’s blockchain winner.
 
Some of the biggest artists in the world see the need for alternatives to the current business model. The Chainsmokers, for example, are excited to revisit the roots of their initial success, specifically the ability to share new content with fans more directly:
 
“We got our start sharing music directly with fans and so we are really aligned with the way Audius uses the blockchain to enhance the artist-fan relationship. We plan to upload the stuff we play live, which we wouldn’t typically share on traditional music platforms. Music has often been an early adopter of disruptive technology, and it seems blockchain will be no different. Mainstream adoption of Audius is happening in front of us, as over six million users are listening and engaging on a monthly basis. The platform, which recently announced a partnership with TikTok, is now the largest decentralized consumer product on earth and the fastest-growing streaming platform outright.

Launched in late 2019, the Audius community has grown to over six million users monthly in just under two years. This latest investment was originated by Blockchange Ventures, an early stage blockchain venture fund. It has made over eighty investments in the space and manages over $1 billion in assets.
